Choosing your doula

Choosing your doula is as important as deciding on a family doctor or pediatrician. There are some key things to keep in mind when searching for a postpartum doula.

  • Do you mesh with your doula? Does your partner get along with your doula, if you have one?
  • Are you able to speak your mind?
  • What education and training does your doula have?
  • Is your doula professional and prepared?
  • What services does she offer?
  • Do you have any specific concerns ie breastfeeding and employment? vaccines? Other baby care questions? What about mother/ father/ partner questions and concerns?
